Sir Mick Davis is the founder and Managing Partner of Vision Blue which invests in metal and mineral resource companies essential to the clean energy transition. Sir Mick is a highly successful mining executive accredited with building Xstrata plc into one of the largest mining companies in the world prior to its acquisition by Glencore plc. Before listing Xstrata on the LSE as CEO he was CFO of Billiton plc and Chair of Billiton Coal which he joined from the position of Eskom CFO.

During his career in mining, he has raised over US$40bn from global capital markets and successfully completed over US$120bn of corporate transactions, including the creation of the Ingwe Coal Corporation in South Africa; the listing of Billiton on the LSE; the merger of BHP and Billiton; as well as numerous transactions at Xstrata culminating in the sale to Glencore plc.

Thras Moraitis was appointed CEO of the Serra Verde Group in January 2023 and is a highly experienced global mining executive.

He was previously a co-founder of X2 Resources and Group Head of Strategy and Corporate Affairs and a member of the Xstrata Plc Executive Committee. At Xstrata he was responsible for strategic development, post-acquisition integration, leadership development, external affairs and investor relations as well as Xstrata’s technology business. While at Xstrata, he was involved in some 40 transactions.

Thras began his career in the early 1980s as an engineer on the South African gold mines of General Mining Union Corporation (Gencor), followed by a series of entrepreneurial activities and, prior to joining Xstrata, was a global partner at the Monitor Group, a global advisory and merchant banking group.

Thras was previously the Chief Development Officer and a member of the Executive Board of EuroChem Group AG, a global fertiliser company and, prior to this, an Executive Director at Brilliant Planet, a growth company developing a scalable method for producing microalgae for food solutions and carbon sequestration.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of FLSmidth and an advisor to Vision Blue Resources.

Carl Tricoli is a Founder and Partner of Denham Capital Management LP and has over 40 years of experience in resource related investing. He is responsible for the firm’s mining investments and is a member of the Investment Committee and the Valuation Committee. Denham Capital is a global resources, energy and sustainable infrastructure focused investment firm with more than $12 billion of invested and committed capital across multiple fund vehicles since inception. Specializing in private equity, infrastructure and debt, Denham invests in sectors that are central to the economic and energy transitions happening globally.

Prior to forming Denham, Carl occupied various positions in the resource investing area including President of GeosCapital, a resource focused investment firm, Managing Director of Koch Industries where he led the principal investing activities for natural resources, President of Black Hawk Resources, an independent exploration and production company with activities focused in the Northern Rockies and Managing Director and Head of Energy Corporate Finance for NationsBank Capital Markets (now Bank of America). He is a member of the board of directors of Mid LA Mining Holdings LLC., Tremont Master Holdings, Ltd., and Santiago Metals LLC. He also serves as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Seaside Institute and is a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Texas at Austin College of Liberal Arts.

John Calvert is a Co-Founder of The Energy & Minerals Group and serves as Co-CEO and Managing Partner of the Fund Manager and serves on the Investment Committee. Mr. Calvert is responsible for directing strategic and investment activities of the Firm and managing the investment portfolio and day-to-day activities of the Firm with John T. Raymond.

Rob Still is currently Chair of Pangea Exploration (Proprietary), Ltd., which provides information and analysis to Denham Capital’s African mining platform.

Prior to Pangea Exploration, Rob has been involved in the mining industry worldwide, from discovery to production for companies including Rhovan (vanadium – discovery to production), Ticor (mineral sands – discovery and evaluation), Pangea GoldFields (exploration and discovery), Southern Mining Corporation Limited (mineral sands – Corridor Sands), Metorex Ltd (copper – turnaround) and Zimplats (platinum – discovery to production).

Justin Machin is a Managing Director of Denham Capital, responsible for origination, analysis, structuring and execution of investments for the Mining Deal Team. He rejoined Denham in 2018.

In addition to his prior experience in Mining Private Equity at Denham, Justin spent several years with Waterton Global Resource Management in Toronto. Previously, he also spent a number of years in Mining Investment Banking, working as an Associate in the Global Mining Mergers & Acquisitions Team at Standard Chartered and as an Analyst in the Global Mining Corporate Finance Team at National Bank Financial. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Serra Verde Rare Earths, Incoa Performance Minerals, Santiago Metals I & II and Camino Minerals.

Joe Norville is a retired KPMG partner with over 35 years of experience tax planning, reporting, and structuring of transactions for public and privately held clients.

At KPMG, Joe served as the Dallas/Denver Business Unit Partner in Charge for Tax for more than ten years and six years as West Region Managing Partner for Tax. In this role, he was responsible for approximately 50% of the U.S. business operations for KPMG’s tax practice.

Joe’s expertise includes advising public company audit committees on tax risks and emerging tax laws, handling IRS examinations with successful settlements, and structuring partnership agreements for optimal alignment with business objectives and Internal Revenue Code requirements. He has also effectively addressed tax matters for numerous clients involved in their initial public offerings.

Scott has more than 30 years’ experience of international accounting, corporate finance and business planning primarily in the natural resources industry. He has served as CFO at listed and unlisted businesses and held senior roles in investment banking and private equity.

Scott was most recently Group CFO of Heritage Oil Limited, a private oil exploration and production company which operates one of the largest onshore oil assets in Nigeria and has exploration interests in Ghana and Papua New Guinea.

Prior to joining Heritage Oil, Scott was acting CFO of the Toronto Stock Exchange listed Oryx Petroleum Corporation before it was acquired and renamed Forza Petroleum. He has also held senior roles with Merrill Lynch International and Leopard Capital as well as positions with The Sterling Group and the First Reserve Corporation.

Ricardo Grossi is a Mining Engineer with 22 years of experience and particular expertise in the management and operation of concentration and pelletizing plants, ore pipelines and cargo terminals. He was previously General Manager at Anglo Brazil, where he led operations at Minas Rio.

Throughout his career Ricardo Grossi has participated in national and international technical missions to assist customers and was responsible for product development processes as well as short and long-term strategic planning. His responsibilities have also included government relations as well as the management of environmental licensing processes.

Ricardo Grossi spent 16 years at Vale in different leadership positions, having been closely involved in the implementation of the Vargem Grande complex. Before joining Serra Verde, he served as COO at Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN).

Over the course of many years, Markus has gathered extensive industrial experience, covering mining and extractives, banking and project finance, retail and consumer, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and corporate and private foundations. His international professional experience spans many countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

Markus is a former Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers and leader of PwC’s Swiss Sustainable Business Solutions Practice, Global Head of Sustainability for Xstrata plc. (now Glencore), and Head of Environmental Risk for Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS).

Markus serves as the strategic ESG advisor to Vision Blue, an investor in metal and mineral resource companies whose products are essential to the clean energy transition. He is also a member of the Sounding Board for the Swiss Gold Refinery Argor Heraeus, a board member of Earth Resource Investments AG, a Swiss based Asset Manager in the natural resources and energy sector, and a member of the Business Advisory Board of swisspeace.

Rebecca is a corporate lawyer with a background in cross border transactions and capital markets activity. She also has significant international and Brazilian mining industry experience to call on.

Rebecca was most recently Senior Counsel at Resource Capital Funds a mining focused global alternative investment firm with $2.5bn assets under management. She was responsible for delivering equity and debt financings, M&A transactions, divestitures and joint venture transactions as well as leading structuring, due diligence and closings for multiple cross-border transactions. Rebecca led all legal processes necessary to form and IPO RCF Acquisition Corp., a blank check company listed on the NYSE in 2021. She was formerly Staff Counsel at Boigon Law, a boutique law firm focused on the practice of natural resources law and international mergers and acquisitions.

Alex has extensive experience in investment and operational risk and in insurance across the Australian, Middle East, European and Brazilian mining sector. In addition, Alex was recognised as 2021 European Risk Manager of the Year.

Alex joined Serra Verde from Swiss fertilizer producer, EuroChem Group AG, where he was Head of Operational, Investment Risk and Insurance. Alex successfully aligned the business’ risk and insurance frameworks with the respective corporate governance codes of the United Kingdom and Switzerland. He also redesigned the company’s strategy to risk transfer; in doing so, reduced premiums by more than 40% and improved coverage of its $10bn of assets. Earlier in his career, Alex worked for the likes of Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

As Head of Corporate Development, David is responsible for strategy, M&A, and evaluating investment and partnership opportunities to further enhance Serra Verde’s competitiveness and long-term success.

David joined Serra Verde from Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), where he was Director of Corporate Development. ERG is a major producer of critical minerals, holding a portfolio of assets in South America, Africa, and Central Asia. David formerly worked in leveraged finance at IKB Deutsche Industriebank and in Valuation and Mergers & Acquisition at KPMG.

Natascha has over three decades of professional experience in operational and strategic human resources across a diverse range of industries, including textiles, executive search, strategic consulting, banking, and midstream gas infrastructure.

She specializes in the design and roll-out of integrated human resource programmes linked to the overall business strategy and in recent years has successfully driven several digitalization projects.

Preceding the establishment of her own consultancy in 2016, Natascha set up and led the HR department of an international gas pipeline company, Trans Adriatic Pipeline.

Patrick is a highly experienced IT executive with a successful track record in designing and implementing global infrastructure projects for major multinational corporations.

Patrick started his career in the financial services industry with Capital One Bank in London before moving to Morgan Stanley in Australia. After a spell in the biotech industry, Patrick has spent the last 18 years working in the mining, metals and commodities trading sectors for firms such as Xstrata, X2 Resources, VARO Energy and Mercuria Energy Trading.
